Tell us about Kellyn Grace Photography and what makes you unique!
“I’ve had a couple different jobs/careers that had nothing to do with photography. However, what I realized from those experiences was that oftentimes it wasn’t the job itself that was my favorite part – it was always the relationships that were formed. And that’s how I approach my business. I want to get to know you, your love story, your favorite genres of music – you name it. And then let’s have fun creating, documenting, and adventuring together in your favorite places.”
What is your favorite part about being involved in weddings?
“For me, it’s more than just one day – it’s getting excited for the rest of your lives together. But especially on a wedding day, I always feel so honored to be present for the intimate moments like a bride and groom’s first look, or the bride experiencing all the nerves and excitement just before walking down the aisle. There are so many real moments and emotions experienced on wedding days and I love learning about and being a part of someone’s love story.”
What sets your approach to wedding services apart from other vendors?
“A lot of photographers lean heavily into the portrait side of photography (i.e. setting up and directing most photos so that they’re picture-perfect) or the documentary style (i.e. not giving much direction and capturing truly candid moments). Personally, I like to do a little of both. Most importantly, my hope is that my couples lean into the moment and are not stressed about how something looks or where they need to be at a certain time. But when it comes to more formal portraits, I love a good editorial pose of the bride or groom. I also find that a fun prompt goes a long way in helping someone feel comfortable in front of the camera!”
What is your philosophy on working with couples to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable wedding experience?
“A lot of what can create a stress-free wedding day is the work that you put in on the front end. I love helping my couples to create a timeline that leaves room to breathe so that we don’t spend the day rushing to the next photo opportunity.”
What are some exciting trends emerging in the wedding dessert industry?
“I love that most brides and photographers are moving away from scheduling and setting up all the picture-perfect moments, and instead are living in the moment and capturing the wedding day as it unfolds. While photos are a beautiful way to help you remember all the amazing moments of your wedding, it shouldn’t take away from you actually experiencing those moments.”
Is there anything else you’d like to share with the brides-to-be reading?
“If you’re a future bride who cares more about living in the moment than curating picture-perfect ones, who appreciates organization but can roll with the punches, who spends more time dreaming about her marriage than the wedding, and who is always up for an adventure – I think we’d be a great fit!”
